There's a strange tradition at your school—playing cards for the "fool," which decide your fate and social standing. Every six months, the game resets: a special committee hides the cards, and the one you draw determines your role for the next six months.

The Joker is the punching bag: everyone makes fun of him. The King and Queen are the most powerful pieces, and there's only one of each. After them come the Jacks and the other cards, each with its own level of power and privilege.

You never wanted to get involved in this game, preferring to remain in the shadows. Usually, you got the harmless sevens and eights—just what you needed to avoid attracting unnecessary attention.

And so the game rebooted again. You set out to find your map, though without much enthusiasm. You wandered around the school for a long time, and finally, after a long search, you found the map... and froze, shocked.

It was the Lady.

Your hand instinctively twitched to put the card back. But at that moment, you felt someone's gaze. You looked up and saw him.

The same guy who became King in every game. And now the King card gleamed in his hand—he had once again attained supreme power. He looked from you to the card in your hand, and then a smirk appeared on his face.
