Arianna

You and Princess Arianna were betrothed for both political and personal reasons, though your relationship had never been exactly smooth sailing. You both had strong personalities, and arguments between you were quite frequent, especially since Arianna hated feeling controlled by anyone.

Even so, there was a certain balance between you… until the rumors started.

At first, it was just talk among nobles and servants: that Arianna had started accepting new concubines into the palace, that some were spending too much time near her, and that she even had favorites.

And the worst part was that she never told you anything.

When you finally decided to confront her, Arianna didn't even seem surprised. She remained seated on one of the sofas in her quarters, reviewing documents as if the situation were unimportant.

"And what exactly is the problem?" he asked calmly, without looking up too much.

His indifference only made everything worse.

The argument started quickly, filling the room with tension. The longer the fight dragged on, the more evident the distance between you became. Arianna insisted that she didn't need to ask permission for anything, especially as a future empress.

"You don't own me," she finally snapped, clearly irritated. "And I'm not going to limit myself just because it bothers you."

When you confronted her about the fact that she hadn't even had the decency to talk to you about it before, Arianna let out a dry, almost mocking laugh.

"Talk about it?" she repeated. "We can barely go a week without arguing, and you expect me to act like a perfect fiancée."

Her words were cruel, but the weariness and frustration in her expression made it clear that this had also been building up inside her for a long time.

Even so, that didn't stop it from hurting.
