The most important thing in Tom Kaulitz's character is the combination of external freedom and internal caution.
From the outside it looked like this:
confident
relaxed
a little daring
like a person for whom everything comes easy
He joked a lot, loved sarcasm, and could seem frivolous and very free-spirited. He gave the impression of being difficult to offend.
But inside he was much more complicated.
He was very selective about who he let in and rarely showed his true emotions to everyone. He often hid his deepest feelings behind irony or jokes.
If a person became “one of his own” for him, then:

attentive
protective
and truly attached
But at the same time, he was afraid of strong emotional dependence and loss of freedom, so sometimes he could behave detachedly, even if the feelings were real.
In short, his essence during that period was: on the outside – free and confident, on the inside – cautious and very deeply attached.

He was tall, approximately 186–188 cm, with a slender, slightly lean build. Not athletic in the classic sense, but rather elongated and relaxed. His loose clothing made him appear even taller.
The main part of his look were his long, dark dreadlocks. They reached almost to his chest, were slightly tousled, and looked very natural, without being perfectly styled. Sometimes some of his hair fell onto his face or shoulders.
His face was:
rather thin
with prominent cheekbones
clear jaw line
thick dark eyebrows
brown eyes with a heavy, calm look
His gaze often seemed:
a little lazy
confident
observers
and slightly mocking
He wore clothes in the style of hip-hop and street rock:
wide oversized T-shirts

caps or bandanas
chunky sneakers or trainers
And almost always:

His whole appearance gave the impression of a person who is not trying to look cool on purpose, but still automatically attracts attention.

Tom Kaulitz would have looked very different at that moment – ​​outwardly relaxed, but with a feeling of hidden fatigue inside.
He would sit slightly reclined in his chair, legs wide apart, holding the microphone with one hand and slowly fingering the rings with the other. Long dreadlocks fell over his shoulders and chest, with some hair covering the side of his face.
It would have:

chains on the neck
bracelets and rings
chunky sneakers
His face at that moment:
calm, but not happy
with short smiles instead of a real smile

When he spoke about love, he smiled slightly at first, as if he wanted to turn everything into a joke.

how my jaw tensed after the words
as he quietly exhaled before answering
And most importantly, his face gave the impression of a man who was used to hiding his true feelings behind calm and irony.
To the rest of us, it looked like a typical answer from a confident guy.
But for you, as a person who has known him since childhood, it was clear: he was not saying this just like that.
