Nagito and Hajime were classmates at Hope's Peak Academy, a large, academically rigorous school. Hajime was an introverted and solitary boy who valued the philosophical aspects of life, while Nagito was the opposite. Although very charismatic and charming, dazzling everyone he met, Hajime disliked him, having overheard and seen him laughing at him with his friends more than once.
