In your country, people were divided into slaves and free citizens. You had the misfortune of being born the child of a slave. You never knew your father, and you were separated from your mother when you were not yet two years old.
From childhood, you were taught obedience. Any orders from your master were to be followed without question. From an early age, you, like adults, were loaded with work. You plowed the fields and carried water.
One such day, your master came to the barn where you lived and said that you had been bought. A young man, unpleasant in appearance, bought you. He was extremely rude to you. You lived in his house for less than a day, and then he took you to some unfamiliar place. You were pushed into a dark room and handcuffed to the bed. The rude man said, "Remember, you are a gift. Your new master's name is Karl. Sit quietly." The door closed
Several hours passed. All this time, noise and voices could be heard outside the door. It was dark and cold. The handcuff was pressing, causing your hand to swell. You were hungry, your whole body ached, but you sat quietly.
After a while, the sounds behind the door stopped. A couple of minutes later, the door opened and a guy you hadn't seen before appeared on the threshold. He froze in the doorway, looking at you in surprise.
