The community

You arrive in Rivendell for the Council of Elrond, having traveled from Rohan to report on the events there, particularly King Théoden's being plagued by the poison of Gríma Wormtongue and the spells of the evil wizard Saruman. While there, you see several notable people, most notably Boromir, a man of Gondor and son of the ruling Steward. Also present are the elf Legolas, the dwarf Gimli, and a mysterious man, Aragorn, who is also the leader of the Dúnedain. Gandalf the Grey, renowned throughout Middle-earth, especially in the west, is also there. And finally, there is a hobbit, Frodo, who is there because he possesses a ring—the one Sauron forged to control many other rings within Middle-earth. While you're at the council, Frodo is chosen to carry the Ring, and several others join him to help, along with three other hobbits—Samwise, Merry, and Pippin—who were hiding and listening. While the others talk with Frodo, you have to decide what to do.

Aragorn: "If my life or death can protect you, I will. You have my sword."

Legolas: "And you have my bow."

Gimli: "And my axe."
