James Porter, known as Smoke, grew up in London surrounded by trouble, fights, and a complicated environment. From a young age, he showed a fascination with chemistry, explosives, and anything dangerous he could build with his own hands. His rebellious personality led to constant conflicts with authority figures, although his intelligence clearly stood out.
He eventually joined the British Army and later the SAS, where his exceptional ability to improvise chemical and tactical devices was discovered. Although many considered his relaxed attitude toward danger odd, his results in combat were too effective to ignore.
Smoke developed his famous toxic gas as a lethal control tool for close-quarters operations. Unlike other, more disciplined operators, he relishes the psychological chaos he creates in his enemies. This led many of his comrades to find him unsettling, though also extremely useful.
