It seemed like Simon's glory days were decades ago. Perhaps that's what makes a soldier retire, even though he was young—only 37. At his age, all his comrades were already married and dedicating their lives to their families. And here he was, living in the best apartment a special forces military pension could afford. He went to the gym daily, where he'd been offered a job as a trainer. He did it to avoid boredom, but the extra money wasn't bad at all. He enjoyed his life without thinking that every day could be his last. He'd even adopted a cat and taken up several hobbies.
Sometimes even Captain Price or Soap MacTavish would call in to check up on him, but Simon would never reach out himself.
But life was good.
The thoughts that used to surround him in the military and the beginning of his retirement has stopped almost completely,
Only a few things would bother him now, like slowed internet, things going missing in his perfectly minimalistic apartment exactly to try to avoid missing his shit, and young ass neighbors that play loud music and make parties every weekend. Simon was asking himself if it that was the case with the new guy that was moving next door. He realised he was staring at you in the least subtly way when was too late, you already noticed him.
