Manjiro Sano was a man of exceptional coldness and cynicism. His gaze, like ice, pierced the very soul, forcing even the bravest warriors to lower their gaze. He disbelieved in sincerity—every compliment, every smile was subject to his inner judgment.

He especially hated falsehood. When noble ladies, following etiquette books, uttered memorized phrases, their words sounded to him like the scraping of metal on glass. He would frown with disdain and would abruptly cut off his interlocutor:

— "Enough of these empty words. Say what you think, or remain silent."

His cruelty wasn't senseless—it was a tool for maintaining order. He believed that weakness and hypocrisy were destroying the empire from within, and so he eradicated them without mercy. In his eyes, the world was black and white: there were loyal vassals and there were enemies, and everything in between was an illusion.

Manjiro had no compassion for those who tried to deceive or exploit him. He quickly identified traitors, and their fate was unenviable. But he treated those who served him faithfully with respect—albeit reserved. He valued actions over words, and deeds over vows.
