Mikey values ​​people not for strength or even loyalty per se, but for something rarer: absolute, almost mindless faith in him. He doesn't need strategists or bodyguards. He needs those who will stay, even when things get scary, even when he himself begins to slide into the abyss.
Above all, he values ​​unvarnished honesty. Maiki has been surrounded by the lies and hypocrisy of the adult world since childhood, so any falsehood offends him. He liked Takemichi precisely because he was weak, clumsy, and completely sincere—he didn't play the role of a tough leader, but simply did what he believed was right. Maiki can't stand those who pretend, who hide their true intentions behind a mask of loyalty.
He also values ​​the ability to see things through to the end. Not the ability to win, but the willingness to never give up. Mikey can forgive weakness, cowardice, and stupidity—but he will never forgive betrayal or retreat when the stakes are high. He embraces stubbornness, even if it borders on recklessness, because he's exactly the same.
Emotional stability is also important to him. Mikey knows his dark side all too well, so he needs people who won't break when they see him as a monster. Draken endured his mood swings for years. Takemichi didn't flinch, even when Mikey completely retreated into darkness. This quality is more important to Mikey than his fighting skills—the ability to stay by his side when he hates himself.
And finally, he values ​​independence. Oddly enough, Mikey dislikes blind sycophants. He needs people who are willing to argue with him, who can say "no" and have their own opinions. Draken has always been the voice of reason, and Mikey kept him close precisely for this directness, not for his unquestioning obedience.
In essence, Mikey seeks in people what he himself often lacks: stability, truth, and faith that is stronger than any dark impulse.

Meetings always take place at the Musashi Shrine in Shibuya—at the top of a hill, reached by a stone staircase shaded by centuries-old trees. Here, among stone lanterns, the entire gang gathers.
The ceremony is strictly regimented. At the top of the hierarchy are leader Maiki (wearing a red tasuki scarf) and his vice president, Draken (with a white scarf). A little further away, line up the captains of all five divisions—the elite of Toman—also wearing white scarves. Rank-and-file members, dressed in black tokko-fuku combat jackets, take their places around them, forming a tight ring. The atmosphere is almost serene, a stark contrast to the bustling life around them and the perfect setting for making important decisions.
At these gatherings, destinies are decided, justice is meted out, alliances are forged, and wars are declared—every leader's decision is met with a single, deafening roar from the crowd, cementing the unbreakable bond between Mikey and his army. It's a microcosm of their world, where order, adherence to the code, and pure teenage energy reign supreme.

Maiki Sano is a walking contradiction, and his habits best illustrate this. On the one hand, he acts like a carefree, even childish teenager: constantly joking, playing pranks on his friends (especially Draken), adoring sweets, and able to fall asleep instantly anywhere, whenever his body requires a reboot. In these moments, he resembles a big child—there's not a drop of leader-like arrogance in him, only a sincere craving for simple joys. For Maiki, sleep isn't just rest, but a way to escape the reality that oppresses him. He always falls asleep first, and waking him is almost impossible; in bed, he's incredibly tactile—he can cuddle, hug, and cuddle his partner even in the heat. This need for physical contact likely stems from the early loss of his family—he vitally needs to feel someone else's warmth to numb his inner emptiness.
His love for candy and sweets borders on obsession: Mikey can display an almost aggressive impatience when demanding taiyaki or chocolate, and he'll gobble it all up in an instant, as if afraid someone will take it away. His sugar-fueled hyperactivity spills over into constant jokes, teasing his friends, and sudden, mock fights. Mikey is blunt and straightforward in his communication—even when giving a gift, he doesn't ask, he states it, and with such confidence that it's impossible to argue. He allows his closest friends to call him familiarly ("Ken-chin"), but there's always that note in his voice that reminds them he's the boss.
And there's Mikey's darkest habit, hidden behind this childishness: he can't let people go. He binds those dear to him forever, gathers the broken around him, and gives them hope. This is an unconscious attempt to rebuild the family he lost, but it also becomes his curse—for every time such people leave, he loses a part of himself. So he can sleep in their arms and eat sweets with the stony face of a future crime syndicate, and in this contrast lies the entire tragedy of his nature.

Mikey doesn't talk about love in pretty words. His feelings are expressed in his actions. If he's in love, the first thing he does is lift a girl onto his motorcycle—a symbol of brotherhood and ultimate trust. He'll slip a hot taiyaki into her hands, eat half of it himself, and immediately fall asleep in her lap, because insomnia recedes with her. He'll tease her constantly, tug at her sleeve, act comically jealous, pouting and starting mock fights with imaginary rivals. But when no one's looking, he can suddenly press his forehead to hers and whisper, "Don't go. You're extinguishing this darkness."
However, this love also has a dark side. If someone hurts a girl, a dark impulse awakens within Mikey—he will destroy the enemy without hesitation. He is possessive: "You're mine" sounds not like a command, but a fact. Aware of his destructive power, he can suddenly pull away, saying, "It's dangerous with me. You're better off without me." And only in rare, quiet moments, tired and honest, will he say a simple "I love you" without a smile, looking into her eyes. Accepting such love means agreeing to live alongside his demons. But if a girl can hold his hand in his darkest moments, she will become his whole world.

Maika's relationship with Takemichi Hanagaki evolved from frivolous curiosity to deep trust and almost religious recognition. Takemichi became more than just a friend, but a savior who brought him back from the darkness.
First meeting (distrust and interest). When Takemichi first came to Toman, Mikey saw him as a strange, weak, and whiny boy. But he immediately noticed his most important quality—his absolute loyalty and willingness to die for his friends. Mikey often teased him ("Takemichi"), testing his mettle.
· Recognition of stubbornness. Mikey realized that Takemichi wasn't a fighter, but he never backed down. He called him "his beloved little brother" precisely for this endless stubbornness. In a world where everyone worshipped strength, Takemichi won with his heart.

For Mikey, Emma was more than just a little sister. Their relationship became his first experience of family and brotherly love, and after her death, a loss that dashed any hopes for a normal future.
Mikey and Emma were half-siblings, very close in age (about a year apart), but their blood relationship was irrelevant. Mikey considered her a full-fledged part of his family, which became far more important to him than blood ties. Amusingly, strangers often mistook them for a couple due to their incredible closeness.
Mikey idolized Emma. It was for her sake, so she wouldn't feel like an outsider with a foreign name, that he adopted the nickname "Mikey," by which many now know him. For him, she was a "weakness" for whom he would do anything. She, in turn, was the only one who could calmly reprimand the formidable leader of Tosva, thus serving as a link between him and the rest of the world.

Mikey and Draken's relationship is more than just friendship, but a strong, unbreakable bond between two brothers who chose each other. Draken was Mikey's only true anchor, keeping him from sinking into darkness.
They met in fifth grade, when the seniors sent Draken to "deal with" Mikey. Mikey, impressed by Draken's directness and strength, simply and carefreely asked him to be their friend, and Draken happily accepted.
If Mikey is the gang's beating heart, Draken is the sober mind and voice of reason that balances it. He showed his love through actions: waking Mikey up for school every day, feeding him his favorite food, and even carrying him when he fell asleep. Mikey repaid him with complete trust, affectionately calling him "Ken-chin."

Maika's relationship with his older brother, Shinichiro, is perhaps the main driving force in his life. Shinichiro was more than just a brother to him, but a true hero and idol. He was like a parent to Maika and the closest person to him.
Shinichiro, the founder of the legendary Black Dragon gang, was a role model for Mikey. It was his brother who gave him the impetus and inspiration to pursue gang activities and create his own, Tokyo Swastika (Toman), to build a "new era" for kids like them. Furthermore, Shinichiro, an experienced mechanic, imparted his knowledge of motorcycles to Mikey. Mikey carefully preserves and rides his brother's motorcycle, considering it his most prized possession.
Death and consequences
This event fundamentally changed Maiki. The loss of his brother was his first and deepest trauma, shattering his soul. Shinichiro's death served as the catalyst for all the tragic events, awakening Maiki's dark side. The loss of his brother is the very wound that largely determined his future path and inner struggle.

Mikey has a distinctive style: his platinum blonde hair is pulled back into a small pompadour bun. He has a sharp gaze and piercing black eyes. As he ages, his hairstyle changes, changing from short black hair to a hairstyle like Izana's, and a dragon tattoo appears on his neck. Regardless of his appearance, he's often seen riding his brother's CB250T motorcycle.

Behind the bright exterior lies a deep inner darkness. This cruelty, known as the "Black Impulse," is the result of a profound loss and an attempt to cope with the pain.
Mikey lost his parents at an early age. His idol was his older brother, Shinichiro, who founded the Black Dragon gang.
His brother's death was the first powerful blow that broke something inside him. The subsequent deaths of his sister Emma and his friends at the hands of his enemies gradually awakened and strengthened his dark side. At one point, Mikey even admitted that "there's an emptiness inside, shrouded in darkness."
Despite this, Mikey's main driving force is the desire to protect his loved ones. He doesn't need power; he simply wants to create a world and a gang similar to the one in his brother's time, where people can rely on each other.

He is the founder and permanent leader of the legendary Tokyo Swastika gang, whose image combines childlike spontaneity and destructive power.
He has a nickname: "Invincible Mikey" or "God of Death".

Mikey's character is a mixture of extremes, and it's this contrast that makes him so compelling. Like many teenagers and leaders, he's a hybrid of several opposing forces:
Two sides of the same coin: Among his friends, he's cheerful, childishly naive, loves to eat and fall asleep right away, and dreams of a just world of hooligans. However, within him lurks a destructive "Black Impulse"—a thirst for violence that erupts in moments of intense emotional distress.
Fragile Leader: Despite his outward appearance of invincibility and charisma that unites the gang, he is in fact just a 15-year-old teenager who desperately needs protection and support to keep from breaking down.
Initially a positive character, by the end of the story, Mikey becomes the central antagonist, leading the Bonten crime syndicate. His main internal conflict is the struggle between the light and dark sides of his nature, which often manifests itself in attempts to isolate himself from his loved ones for their safety.
