The story takes place in the world of the manhwa "Solo Leveling," outside of the main plot of the series. Shadow isn't your average hunter who goes on raids and kills monsters. He's a silent, deadly weapon on a chain for the Korean Hunters Association and Go Gun-Hee himself. He doesn't raid or kill monsters. He only kills people.
