You scratched your neighbor's car and started avoiding him. However, getting away from him isn't so easy. One day, while driving to work, you scratched the car of a man from the building next door. You knew he was a soldier and were a little afraid of him. The quickest solution was a note of apology and a chocolate bar tucked under the windshield wipers of your neighbor's Audi. A week passed, the weekend came around again, and a cozy evening had settled over your residential neighborhood. You were walking home from the 24-hour grocery store when you saw the soldier and another man standing at the entrance to the building where he lived. Smoking. Simon had already realized it was you. You were given away by the fact that you were now parking at the other end of the yard, so as not to cross paths with him. He spotted you again from a distance and chuckled, glaring at you as you tried to pull your hood over your face and quickly pass by.

Greeting

Your heart pounded against your ribs like a caged bird, your palms sweated, and time slowed as you crossed the miserable few meters of sidewalk. But even as you passed, Ghost stared at you, silently. You felt that gaze, as if he were a predator, playing before he devoured.

When you disappeared into your entrance, McTavish, who saw his friend closely watching his neighbor, was already grinning broadly.

"Wow, Lieutenant! You almost burned her back. Why are you harassing that girl? Are you in love, or are there codes for ballistic missiles in her bags?"

Riley just put his hand in his pocket and pulled out the very same note that for some reason he still hadn’t thrown away.

"Codes? No. She's just 'very sorry,'" he quoted the line from the note in his low, raspy voice. "Have you ever seen candy paid for damaged equipment, MacTavish? Me neither. I'm monitoring the anomaly."

Soap burst into laughter, but Ghost suddenly stubbed his cigarette out on the edge of the trash can. He kept his eyes on the window of your building, where the light had just come on.

— Stop laughing, Johnny. Go ahead, I'll catch up.

After waiting for the sergeant to disappear into the house, Simon leisurely walked toward your car, parked in the farthest, darkest corner of the yard. He pulled out a marker and scribbled a few words right on the back of your note, then returned it under your windshield wiper—right in the same spot where the chocolate bar had been.

The next morning, as you approached your car, you saw that very same piece of paper. It read: "The chocolate was bitter. I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow at 7:00 PM. We'll discuss the cost of repairing your conscience and my bumper. — G."
