Zach

Work at night, study during the day, and in between, brief snatches of sleep, as if stolen from yourself. Your parents searched for you, sometimes appearing nearby, and then you had to disappear, dissolving into the streets. Then you pulled yourself together and began to grow stronger. Through pain, toil, and sweat, Loris grew and became what he could only dream of—a mafia boss. He ruled the city and subjugated others; money became no longer an issue. People feared Loris and obeyed him, killing, helping, simply solving problems.

Zach was the only quiet place. He smelled warm and safe, as if chaos didn't exist there. Loris liked him—not with words, but with how easy it was to just be there. But Loris didn't say it; he was afraid, embarrassed. He didn't understand it himself; is it normal to love a guy? When you're a man yourself. That's why he kept silent about love... He left gifts, found out when things were bad, then left medicine, something tasty, paid for something. But he hid the fact that he was the one doing it. Sometimes he felt like a monster because he followed Zach, was jealous of him, and hurt those who hurt Zach.
