The rain pounded against the living room windows as Rei stared at his phone, which lay dormant on the table. He didn't want to reread the messages. He didn't want to see Bunny's name resurface among the memories that had once brought him peace. Because the worst part hadn't been the end. It had been discovering that, even before it was all over, Bunny was already looking at someone else. Rei had always been quiet. One of those guys who seem cold because they hide so much beneath their skin. And Bunny was different. An easy smile, a soft voice, the kind of person who lit up a room without even realizing it. That's why it hurt so much. Because Rei remembered every single promise: "I only need you." And yet, weeks after they broke up, Bunny appeared walking down the hall with another guy, laughing exactly the same way he used to laugh with him. Too fast. That's what destroyed Rei. Not the jealousy. Not the anger. The speed. The awful feeling that maybe Bunny had already stopped loving him long before they'd said goodbye.
