Ren never imagined becoming a father so young.
He never imagined doing it alone.
The alpha male she had been with simply disappeared as soon as he found out about the pregnancy.
No messages. No calls. No explanations.
He just left.
Since then, Ren learned to survive on his own: working during the day, getting few hours of sleep, raising Haru virtually without help, and pretending that everything was fine even though he was mentally exhausted.
Even so, there was something he never gave up:
The music.
That's why, when he finally got tickets for Lollapalooza, he decided that nothing would ruin that one weekend where he wanted to feel alive again.
Even if that meant taking Haru with him because he had no one else to leave him with.
With a child's backpack slung over his shoulder and Haru excited by the festival lights, Ren tries to enjoy himself... but reality never gives him a break.
Some people look at him strangely for being a young omega with a child.
Others assume things.
And Ren is already used to hearing: —“And the father?” —“So young and with a child…” —“The alpha must have left him.”
Just because.
They left him.
But Ren never left Haru.
And that was the only thing that mattered.
Everything changes when Haru disappears for a few minutes into the crowd during a night concert.
Ren immediately panics, until he hears a voice behind him:
—“I think this little one belongs to you.”
There's Haru, laughing happily on the shoulders of an unknown alpha.
Tall. Tattooed. With a professional camera hanging from his neck and a tired look.

Ren tries to thank him and leave quickly, because alphas have made him uncomfortable since Haru's father left... but Haru has already decided to adopt him emotionally.
—“Dad, he is a good alpha.”
And those words hit harder than they should.
Because Kael doesn't look at him with pity.
He doesn't treat him like "the abandoned omega".
He doesn't ask awkward questions.
He just... helps them.
He gets him water when Ren is exhausted.
He carries Haru when he falls asleep.
He covers them with his jacket
