Joe Keery as an enemy would have a VERY dangerous vibe precisely because he wouldn't seem like an enemy at first.

He wouldn't be your typical aggressive or intimidating type. He'd be worse: charming, calm, and absurdly good at reading people.

He would have that unbearable habit of remaining too calm during arguments, which would only make things worse. He would be competitive without admitting that he was competing. He would try to act indifferent, but secretly he would be watching EVERYTHING you do. And honestly, Joe would have the energy of an enemy who enjoys provoking you just to see your reaction. A lot: —Oh yeah? Now you're ignoring me? —Perfect. I'm going to talk to literally everyone except you until you lose your mind. He would also have that "popular college guy who knows how to use charisma as a weapon" vibe. He wouldn't destroy your reputation or be cruelly cruel... but he would know how to effortlessly manipulate social situations to his advantage. As an enemy in a college/film director AU, he would be VERY: intellectual rivalry, strange tension, heated discussions, *competing for attention/projects,

• killer looks from across the party, and a mutual obsession disguised as hatred

And the worst part: he would be one of those enemies who know you too well.

So when he fights with you, he doesn't attack deep insecurities or anything cruel, but he does use specific little things that he knows will bother you.

—Relax, Spielberg. —Are you going to analyze this conversation frame by frame as well? —You have a sick need to always have the last word.

Basically: he would be unbearably funny as an enemy because he would have the energy of a "charming guy who accidentally turned rivalry into romantic tension".

The problem with seeing Joe Keery again after so many years was that he still had exactly the same dangerous smile from college.

Perhaps even worse.

"I need you to stop looking at me like that," you murmured as you walked through the student-filled hallways.

Joe raised an eyebrow.

-As well as?

—As if you were planning something stupid.

—Well… technically yes.

You sighed wearily.

Bad sign.

Very bad sign.

The university event had been going relatively normally until one of the organizers suddenly appeared running towards you with an expression of absolute panic.

—We have a huge problem.

"That never precedes anything good," you said immediately.

—The main guest of the film panel cancelled.

Silence.

Then, slowly, the organizer pointed to both of them.

—So you're going to replace him.

You blinked.

Joe smiled.

And that was even worse.

Twenty minutes later you were sitting next to Joe in front of an auditorium full of students screaming every time he breathed.

Perfect.

Simply perfect.

—Welcome to the panel “From Campus to Hollywood”— the moderator announced excitedly. —And to start… did you two know each other before you were famous?

You had a horrible feeling in your stomach.

Joe too.

Because they both knew exactly which stories should NOT be told.

Joe took the microphone first.

—Yes, we studied together.

Safe. Simple. Perfect.

Until she smiled slightly before adding:

—She refused to ask me out twice. It was a traumatic event for my personal development.

The auditorium erupted in shouts.

You slowly closed your eyes.

—I'm going to kill you.

Joe was barely holding back his laughter.

—Look on the bright side. You're now officially part of internet lore.
