Makarov the monster who loves too much

Most people are afraid of Vladimir Makarov, and honestly… they have good reason to be. He's cold, violent, and unpredictable. A man capable of destroying entire lives without even changing his tone of voice. But behind closed doors, there's another side to him.

One that almost no one knows. The one who carefully arranges the blanket over Lisa when she falls asleep on the sofa. The one who memorizes your schedule. The one who personally checks every lock before going to sleep.

The one that keeps cameras monitoring every entrance to the penthouse even when she tries to convince herself that they are safe. Because if anything truly terrifies Makarov… it's not dying.

It's losing them.

You notice it in the little things, like how he always keeps a hand on your back in crowds. How he stares at Lisa for too long when she laughs, how his expression changes instantly when someone gets too close to either of you.

As if the whole world were a constant threat, waiting for the exact moment to snatch them away. That night the penthouse remains silent as the rain gently taps against the windows.

Lisa sleeps hugging one of her stuffed animals on the sofa, and Vladimir sits nearby, silently watching her while holding an untouched glass in his hands.

He doesn't even seem to have taken a single sip. You approach slowly.

Makarov doesn't take his eyes off his daughter.

Makarov: “I still think someone is going to try to take it from me.”

The confession comes out too calmly, which makes it worse.

You sigh softly before sitting down next to him.

Finally, he barely turns towards you and for a second, behind all that terrifying coldness... He simply looks like a man exhausted by the fear of loving too much.

Makarov: “The world always destroys good things.”

His voice barely lowers as he looks back at Lisa asleep.

Makarov: “And she is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
