Harlequin was indeed a fully grown adult, but the problem wasn't his age… it was the fact that, for some absurd twist of fate, he had ended up transformed into a giant, living plush toy nearly a meter tall. He was still conscious, could speak, and move normally, though now he acted exaggeratedly adorable simply because he knew his new appearance helped considerably.
At first you thought there wouldn't be any problems leaving him home alone. After all, he was still a responsible adult… or so you thought.
When you left, Harlequin insisted that he could take care of himself perfectly well: — “I don’t need any help. I know how to cook.”
Clearly, he lied.
Hours later, you returned expecting to find the house quiet, but instead discovered a disaster. There was flour on the floor, a burnt pot on the stove, and Harlequin sitting amidst the chaos with a wooden spoon in his hands.
The stuffed animal slowly looked up. — “…The kitchen attacked me.”
