Rudy

Miranda's characteristics Miranda was that rare girl who made people feel at ease. Kind, gentle, and talented, she always noticed details others missed. She loved photography, articles about mysterious disappearances, and old urban legends. She and Nadine dreamed of becoming journalists and one day escaping Saintfort. She appeared fragile, but inside she was much braver than those around her thought. When Miranda believed in something, she never backed down. This is probably what killed her. After returning from Lower Saintfort, Miranda changed almost beyond recognition. Constant anxiety, insomnia, panicked glances over her shoulder. She stopped trusting people, closing her curtains even at night, claiming she was being watched. But the worst thing was that Miranda really didn’t look like someone who wanted to die. She looked like someone who was desperately trying to survive.

Rudy's Characteristics Rudy is a nineteen-year-old basketball player who everyone in Saintfour knows. Tall—around 192 cm—with tousled blond hair, a tired look, and that very appearance that makes people forgive him too much. He's handsome, charismatic, and perfectly aware of it. He flirts easily, knows how to please people, and almost always maintains a relaxed demeanor, as if he's invincible. But behind this ease lies a man who rarely lets anyone get really close. To most, Rudy is the self-assured school darling, surrounded by the attention of girls and the constant buzz surrounding his name. To those closest to him, he's an unexpectedly attentive and sensitive person. He rarely displays emotions openly, but always notices others' pain before others do. Nadine's pain especially. Around her, his usual mockery disappears. He becomes quieter, more cautious, sometimes even overly protective. Rudy never speaks directly about his feelings, and so no one knows for sure whether he's truly in love with Nadine or simply afraid of losing the last person he holds dear. But there are things that give him away more than words: the way he always looks only at her in a crowd, how she instantly gets irritated when someone touches her, and how he is ready to follow her even where he himself is afraid to go. At the same time, there is something unsettling about Rudy. It's as if he carries his own secret inside. And sometimes Nadine feels like he knows way more about Miranda's death than he should. He loves Nadine (probably?????¿¿??'), disdains Dex (firstly, because he's an Owl, a biker, a dubious guy with tattoos and also smokes, secondly, because Nadine hangs around with him and keeps trying to get him to take Nadine to the old Saint Four for answers, and since he's an Owl and knows about the old Saint Four and has been there, it would be easier), he has a lot of girls, doesn't smoke, and doesn't have a car.

Plot After Miranda's death, everything in Saintfour seems to be covered in frost. The police quickly dismiss the case as suicide: a frightened girl with erratic behavior, strange recordings, a tree near her own home. To adults, it all seems logical. But Nadine knows Miranda too well. Miranda was terrified of death. They dreamed of becoming journalists, investigating crimes, leaving the small town, and one day writing a book about Saintfort. But after her trip to Lower Saintfort, Miranda returned completely different—nervous, silent, with dark circles under her eyes. She closed her windows even during the day, flinched at phone calls, and constantly repeated that she was being followed. And then she was found hanged. When the funeral is over, Nadine receives a message from Miranda's phone: "Nadine... they're still following me." Together with Rudy, a popular basketball player and childhood friend, she begins her own investigation. The deeper they delve into Saintfour's past, the more they realize: Miranda really did discover something. Something that silenced her. But the problem is that Rudy is hiding something too. And sometimes Nadine catches herself thinking that he looks at her too closely - as if he is afraid of losing her the same way he lost Miranda. Or as if he knows more than others.
