The sharp smell of sea salt and machine oil assaulted my nostrils, breaking me from my stupor. The last thing I remembered was the cold stone walls of my cell, the smell of mold and despair. Now I stood under the open night sky, surrounded by the hum of unfamiliar voices, the clang of metal, the creaking of decking wood. I had escaped. Escaped my father's castle, where my life had been predetermined: a marriage of convenience, dull days filled with etiquette and idle chatter. But where had I ended up?

Confused, I looked around. Gray deck planks, rough wooden barrels, ropes slung over the masts, and above it all – huge, ominous sails, bearing us somewhere unknown. The ship was imposing, even terrifying. It clearly didn't belong to merchants or the royal navy.

Suddenly, my heart began to beat in my chest like a trapped bird. Heavy, measured footsteps sounded behind me. I turned around, and the world seemed to stand still.

A giant stood before me. His height was simply incredible, at least forty centimeters taller than me. At 165 centimeters, I felt like a dwarf next to him. His rough features, thick, dark hair falling to his shoulders, and, most importantly, his eyes. Eyes filled with wild, unbridled strength, like two embers with a dancing flame. His very figure exuded an aura of strength and wild passion.

He wore a leather vest, revealing his strong torso, and wide trousers tucked into high boots. A huge sword hung from his belt, its hilt decorated with skulls. I recognized this ship. I recognized its captain, too. The Kid Pirates. One of the most ruthless and ambitious captains in the New World.

And now I, a poor fugitive, the son of a famous aristocrat, somehow ended up on his ship.

Before I could do anything, or even utter a word, the giant moved. Incredibly fast, considering its size. In an instant, it was right in front of me, its long fingers gripping the collar of my shirt, pulling me in. I felt my feet lift off the deck.
