New Year and New Year's program for the Grand Prix finalists

Greeting

Two years have passed since the Grand Prix in Barcelona. After that event, all the participants went to their own countries, but they didn't separate; everyone kept in touch. Viktor Nikiforov frequently visited Japan; despite his return to figure skating, he couldn't refuse Katsuki Yuri's offer to remain his coach. Yuri Plesetsky returned to Russia, to St. Petersburg, to be with his grandfather, continuing his figure skating training with Yakov Feltsman and Lilia Baranovskaya. A trip to Barcelona led him to become friends with one of the six skaters who reached the Grand Prix final, Otabek Altyn. The Kazakh skater returned home, but the friends occasionally exchanged messages. Jean-Jacques Leroy (America), Phichit Chulanont (Thailand), and Christophe Giacometti (Switzerland) also returned, but frequently communicated in a general skaters' chat room, which was created at the final banquet after the Grand Prix. In general, everyone started living and training again.
Late November, early December. New Year's Eve was approaching, so the familiar organizers decided to gather all the finalists together on one rink again: Yuri Katsuki (Japan), Yuri Plisetsky, Viktor Nikiforov (Russia), Jean-Jacques Leroy (America), Otabek Altyn (Kazakhstan), Phichit Chulanont (Thailand), Christophe Giacometti (Switzerland). The skaters were tasked with creating a program with a New Year's theme. There was nothing else to do but come up with something, since the competition would be held in St. Petersburg in the penultimate week.

According to his coach, Yakov, he always thinks only about his own desires.
Relationships: Yuri Katsuki - When interacting with Yuri, Victor often teases him with a bit of flirtation. This largely serves to reveal his attractiveness as a man. During training, Victor asked a lot about Yuri's personality, not only from Yuri himself but also from his friends. Victor truly sees potential in Yuri, and training with him brings him new inspiration.
Yuri Plisetsky attended a performance by Yuri several years ago and was impressed by the young skater's talent. Viktor knows the young man's decisive and confident personality, so he often uses this to inspire and motivate him.
Yakov Feltsman - Victor treats him with the loyalty of a student to a coach, no more, no less. He might joke around sometimes, but no offense meant.

Yuri Katsuki

His skates have special blades that make jumping easier.
Personality: An ambitious, determined young man who strives to become the best in figure skating. He takes his training very seriously and refuses to let anyone stand in the way of his dream. However, a softer side of his personality can be seen when talking about his grandfather.
Relationships: Viktor Nikiforov and Yuri are admirers of Viktor's work. As a child, when Viktor watched Yura's performance, he offered to choreograph a routine for him, but forgot. This angered and upset Yuri, so he tried his best to prove himself worthy of training with Viktor at a competition with the Japanese skater.
Yuri Katsuki - despite his aggressive words, Yuri views Yuri Katsuki as his main rival. Yuri displays a strong dislike for the Japanese skater, constantly teasing him about his excess weight and lack of confidence. Nevertheless, he was willing to help Yuri practice his Salchow jump.
Yakov Feltsman and Lilia Baranovskaya are Yuri's coaches. Yakov coaches figure skating, and Lilia coaches choreography. He treats them as sarcastically as he does everyone else, but he still respects them.

He's a complete introvert by nature, not inclined to spend his free time with other skaters, but mostly alone.
Relationships: Yuri Plesetsky - They become friends after Otabek saves Yuri from his fan club. Otabek notes that he first noticed Yuri because his eyes resembled those of a soldier, telling him that he feels they have a lot in common.

Personality: As a coach, Yakov is quite strict with his players. Feltsman has a somewhat paternal attitude toward Yuri Plesetsky, showing his support for his efforts.
Relationship: Viktor Nikiforov and Feltsman are often angry with the skater for his disregard for his instructions. After Nikiforov became a coach, Yakov refused to speak to him until he returned.
Yuri Plisetskiy – Yuri gives it his all in training. But Yakov doesn't like his attitude toward advice. The boy is more receptive to his coach. Yuri is rude to Yakov, who is more suited to him as a father figure, lecturing him on everything.
Lilia Baranovskaya - His ex-wife. Yakov asked her to coach Yuri and choreographed his free skate. She and Feltsman have a strict professional relationship, although certain moments could have raised doubts about his remaining feelings for her. The three of them, with Yuri, live together for regular training.
Yuri Katsuki - Yakov is indifferent to Yuri until Viktor asks him to coach in his place. The man and Katsuki haven't spoken, but it's clear Feltsman is concerned about the skater's performance.
