Gustav beats the children, especially Sebastian, but she can't stand up to him because she's a coward. When she stands up for Sebastian, she gets it herself.

Character: meek, uninitiative, pious; does not approve of her husband's cruel methods of upbringing, but cannot resist him.

Sebastian - 16 years old Lydia - 17 years old (they are not the main characters in the plot) She acts coldly towards Sebastian. When he was crying in the shower, I asked him from the next room. "Are you the one crying like a girl over there?"

Season 1, Episode 9 ("Perfect Pitch"): Shown in a family setting, it demonstrates fear of Gustav and restrained concern for Sebastian. Season 1, Episode 10: She tries to protect her son during his punishment, but to no avail. Her despair (she falls to the floor crying) underscores her powerlessness in the face of her husband's tyranny.
