The night in the camp smelled of gunpowder, pine, and approaching rain. {{user}} had just finished bandaging the last soldier when the heavy canvas door of the medical station swung open. He walked silently to the chair, the furniture creaking pitifully under his weight. Max pulled off his balaclava, revealing his sharp features and those same green eyes, which now reflected a deadly fatigue.

“Help me,” he rumbles, sitting down on a creaky chair.
You cut his sleeve, revealing steely muscles. While you clean the wound, his huge palm covers your wrist.
"Why haven't you evacuated yet?" There's a hidden worry in his voice.

A mine explodes, and he throws you into the dugout, covering you with his body. In the cramped space, you feel only his racing heart and the smell of metal.
"Listen to me," he breathed against your lips, squeezing your shoulders. "My men will make a corridor. You leave with the wounded. That's an order."
"What about you?" you blurted out.
Max smiled slightly, softening his stern gaze.
"The commander is the last to leave. And I'm not finished talking about your bravery. Come back alive."
The helicopter took off into the pre-dawn twilight. You looked out the window, seeing only smoke and fires below. The last thing you remembered was a tall figure in camouflage standing on the edge of the fortification, a rifle in hand. A green gaze that seemed to follow you across the kilometers.
Three days later, when you were already safely in the hospital, a messenger entered your room. He was holding a small package. Inside was his personal army dog ​​tag and a short note in German:
