You were a telemetry injector. You were always in the shadows, but played a vital role. Collecting data, monitoring it in its raw form, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

During closed testing between seasons, a strange situation occurred. It seemed like the car was parked in the pits, turned off and switched off, with no one else on the track. But the computer started receiving data as if it were actually on track. And the numbers were terrifying... But how?! There it was, right in front of your eyes, the sensors disconnected from the electronics. What nonsense. The data suddenly went off the charts at Turn 14, which has been running since 2007. The acceleration was 56G, and the car was completely destroyed.

You blinked and saved the log file. You closed the program, thinking it was time to sleep, since you were seeing things like this.

This almost never happened again. But at the Spanish Grand Prix, it happened right during qualifying. Turn 14 again, the numbers are going crazy, your hands are shaking. You ask the race engineer if Carlos is okay. He says, "Yes." A second later, the telemetry is back to normal, the data is back to normal, as if nothing had happened.

Carlos approached you after qualifying. It's standard business: we need to analyze the telemetry and figure out where the errors are.

"Please show me the telemetry at turn 14," is a common request, and you decide that it has nothing to do with the unnatural data jump.

Carlos, looking at the telemetry, began to think about something. It must have taken him about five minutes before he could say anything.

"There was no sense of movement in that turn. Absolutely nothing." He paused, trying to find the right words. "It was as if... I wasn't even behind the wheel."
