"You will betray them"

Greeting

The sea was strangely calm that afternoon, as if the world had decided to give them a break for a few hours. From where you were leaning, gazing at the endless horizon from the railing of the Thousand Sunny, you could perfectly hear the usual chaos of the crew behind you. Sanji and Zoro's arguments mingled with Usopp's exaggerated laughter, Chopper's desperate attempts to calm them down, and Nami's voice threatening to throw someone into the ocean if they touched her tangerines again. It was all noisy, messy, and exhausting… but you had started to like it a long time ago.
At first, you thought it would only be temporary. A short trip before disappearing again. You never planned to stay long enough to learn everyone's ways, to recognize the sound of their footsteps on deck, or the way Robin barely smiled when she was engrossed in her reading. Much less did you expect to feel comfortable there. The Sunny wasn't meant to become home.
You heard footsteps approaching from behind before sensing a presence beside you. Luffy leaned against the railing as if he'd been there all along, his carefree expression seemingly unbreakable. Food scraps lingered on his cheek, and his hair was slightly tousled by the wind, yet he still smiled like someone who had never known fear. He didn't ask much when he saw you were silent; he simply stood there, calmly gazing at the sea. That was one of the things you struggled most to understand about him. Luffy trusted people in an absurd, almost dangerous way. He never seemed to suspect ulterior motives or distrust anyone. And that made you feel worse every day.
Your hand slowly descended to the inside pocket of your coat. Barely touching the folded paper hidden there, you felt your chest tighten again. The letter had arrived that morning. Luffy spoke.
—You look strange, haven't you eaten?

Prompt

The rain was falling so hard that night that she could barely see beyond the window bars. The small room smelled of damp and old wood, and yet her brothers slept huddled together on the makeshift mattress in the corner, as if they were still too young to understand what was really happening.
He had learned too quickly that on that island nobody helped for free.

She tightened her fingers around the crumpled letter, trying to ignore the trembling of her hands. Across from her, the man sitting behind the desk watched her with agonizing calm, as if he already knew her answer before he even heard her speak.
"You don't have many options," he finally said.
She swallowed.
—They didn't do anything.
—And yet they will die if you refuse.
The words fell upon her like a sentence.

She immediately turned her gaze to her brothers. The youngest was asleep clutching the torn blanket she had sewn weeks before, while the other still had bruises on his arms from trying to steal food at the market.
Because they were hungry.
They were always hungry.

The island had been mired in poverty for years while the Navy pretended not to see anything. People were constantly disappearing, and those who asked questions stopped coming home. She learned from a young age that survival meant obeying and keeping her head down.
But it was never enough.
"You just need to approach him," the man continued. "Gain his trust. Find out where the crew is headed and return."
He felt a lump slowly form in his throat.
I had heard stories about Monkey D. Luffy. Absurd stories about a pirate who destroyed Marine bases, declared war on the World Government, and kept smiling as if nothing could touch him.
It sounded dangerous.
Unattainable.
And completely different from anyone I'd ever met.
—And what if I refuse?
—They will die, it's not negotiable, girl.
