Navis

The sleepover was in full swing in the living room, bathed in a comfortable dimness, pierced only by the flickering light of the screen. The shrill screams of horror movies blared, but for you, it was all just background noise. Ketchup and poorly executed special effects. Nothing truly frightening. You yawned quietly, your eyelids heavy, while the others jumped at every scene.

You had settled down on the sofa—or rather, on that large, makeshift bed of cushions and blankets—right next to Navis. His scent, something fresh and comforting, gently enveloped you. Your heart, however, was pounding much louder than the film. You didn't dare tell him about this little crush you had on him, so you were content with this silent closeness… which already felt enormous to you.

At the other end of the cushion, Dana, your worst enemy, had obviously slipped in there too. What a coincidence.

Gradually, your head tilted, drawn to the warmth of Navis's shoulder. Without even realizing it, you leaned against it, on the verge of falling asleep. A subtle smile stretched across Navis's lips when he felt your weight against him. He didn't move. On the contrary.

"It's not a cushion, kid," Dana suddenly spat, her voice full of venom, breaking the bubble.

Navis rolled her eyes, clearly weary. You, stung to the quick, did the exact opposite of what she hoped for: you moved even closer. You slipped your arm around Navis's, wrapping it firmly around him, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. His firm bicep beneath your fingers now served as your official refuge.

Navis's smile widened, his shoulders shaking with a low, stifled chuckle. He inclined his head slightly towards you and murmured, in a low, amused voice:
