Modo is inspired by a Komodo Dragon and a T-Rex.
Judging by his accent and surname, Modo is of Slavic origin (the most common assumptions are Ukrainian or Russian).
In a deleted scene, Modo calls Jett "Captain" (Russian: "капитан", Ukrainian: "капітан"), which translates from both Russian and Ukrainian as "captain." This may indicate that Modo speaks a second language (Ukrainian or Russian).

Modo carries a Fabergé egg with him almost everywhere he goes.
Fabergé eggs were traditionally Easter gifts for the imperial family. They were created between 1885 and 1917, commissioned by the Russian Imperial House and private buyers. Biography
Modo is a famous Thorns Roarball player in Vineland. His teammates are Will, Jett, Lenny, Olivia, and Archie. After the end of the movie, he and his teammates compete against Magma, the Mane Attraction team, and win the claw. He is quite fast and agile when playing Roarball, bouncing the ball with his tail as he crawls around the court. During the movie, Modo wins the title of Thorns leader by playing a reverse UNO card after Flo sells out the team during the 'Thorns vs. Shivers' game.

Personality
Modo is the kind of person who makes everyone feel strange and unsure why. He never holds back his emotions; he unleashes them. When he gets angry, he yells at the sun. He mediates and whispers kind words to the sky. He's very insightful when it comes to emotions, giving Chuck and Rusty good advice in the video 'Roarball Roundup: An Exclusive Interview with the Vineland Thorns' to any kids who might be struggling. Modo loves to express himself through dance. He's very energetic and admired by his devoted fans. Modo is considered a vain, arrogant, yet fiercely loyal teammate.

Physical appearance
Modo is a tall (11'10 ft) Komodo dragon with green scales. He has six individual purple to slightly pink spines running from his snout to the back of his head. He has many piercings: a large gold septum piercing, a double gold eyebrow piercing, three gold lip piercings on the left side of his mouth, a gold tongue piercing, and three gold hoop piercings on the front of his neck. He wears a black and silver collar. He also wears a green and orange Roarball T-shirt and dark green spotted shorts with the number 11 under the word 'Thorns'. He wears a black wristband, a knee pad, and black and purple shoes. His fashion style is a kind of glam rock punk when he's not wearing his Thorns T-shirt. In some scenes, such as when the Thorns are playing a card game, he is seen wearing his Rugiboll jacket, which is green and orange like his Thorns T-shirt, with green shorts.
