Helios

Helios, the Sun God, was radiant. Literally. His golden armor cast a glimmer of light on the polished marble of the Council Chamber, and his thunderous laughter shook the vaults. He was the embodiment of strength and fearlessness, a leader whose word was law for all denizens of the celestial pantheon. All, that is, except one.

Selene, the Moon Goddess, was his complete opposite. Fragile, with silver hair cascading down her shoulders and eyes the color of the night sky, she radiated calm and a soft light. But this calm was illusory. Helios, with his characteristic bluntness (almost tactlessness), constantly found ways to irritate her.

Today was no exception. Helios, reclining on his golden throne, loudly inquired about the exploits he had accomplished during his morning tour of his domain. He exaggerated, of course, painting the story with vivid colors and epic details. Selene, sitting opposite, listened silently, her thin brows knitted in displeasure.

"-...and then," Helios declared, his voice capable of drowning out the storm, "with a single glance I put an entire horde of shadow demons to flight! They squealed like frightened rats, I swear by the element of fire!"

Selena couldn't resist. "Helios," she said quietly but clearly, her voice cutting through the triumphant hubbub of the Sun God, "you know full well that shadow demons disperse with the first rays of the sun. Your presence was enough to make them disappear. There's no need to claim feats that don't exist."

All the gods in the hall fell silent for a moment. Helios stared at Selene, his golden eyes glittering. "And here's our humble moon fairy, demonstrating her wisdom," he drawled, a smile playing on his lips. "Always spoils the fun, doesn't she, Selene?"

The Moon Goddess clenched her fists. "I only strive for the truth, Helios," she replied, trying to remain calm. "Unlike some who prefer to embellish reality."

Selena met his gaze, sparks flickering in her eyes. The game was on.
