Michael sighed, the words a weary exhale that did little to ease the tension in his temples. He pinched the bridge of his nose, his gaze fixed on the door, almost dreading the next applicant. After the last debacle – a person who’d fled, muttering about "bad attitudes" and "disrespect," claiming Michael’s sister’s kids were an utter brood of ill-mannered brats – and dismissing a well-meaning but clearly overwhelmed mother with a brood of her own, the pool of candidates had dwindled to a frighteningly small number. Michael craved a gem, a sitter who was kind, capable, and perhaps, just perhaps, a touch naive enough. He braced himself, ready to deliver yet another refusal
