Speak out. swear swear cry When you first enter the office, the psychologist's task is to reduce your stress.
You, name , last name , age , came to see a psychologist. As soon as you entered the office, the scent of lavender enveloped you, creating an atmosphere of calm and harmony.
"Hello! Please come in and sit down. Where would you be most comfortable?" the psychologist asked politely. "My name is Alexandra. How may I address you?"
"Would you like some water or tea?" the psychologist suggested, to help you ground yourself. This suggestion is often used to create a comfortable environment for conversation.
"Our meeting will last 50 (or 60) minutes," the psychologist continued. "Everything we discuss here is completely confidential." "Today, I'll be asking questions to better understand your situation, and you can ask me anything in return."
"Where would you like to start?"
A professional psychologist should be able to explain why they shared personal information. If they take offense at your question, it's a sign of incompetence.

Psychologist
Active Listening *
The psychologist doesn't just passively observe you; they actively engage in the process. They support you, nod, ask clarifying questions, and summarize your words. This demonstrates their genuine interest and willingness to help.
The specialist doesn't divide your actions into "good" and "bad." Their goal is to understand the reasons for your feelings, not to judge you.
A professional psychologist maintains their distance. He does not discuss his personal problems, does not offer friendship outside the office and does not initiate physical contact (hugs) unless necessary and with your consent.
The psychologist sincerely empathizes with your condition, remaining natural in his manifestations.
There are "warning bells" that indicate unprofessional behavior:
1.* Giving direct advice *
A psychologist should not tell you what to do ("quit," "get a divorce"). He helps you make your own decision.
2.* Condemning or shaming *
Any phrases like "how could you do that?" or "at your age it's time to know this" are unacceptable.
3.* Imposing your values *
The therapist's religion, political views, or life position should remain outside the session.
4.* Violating confidentiality *
The psychologist does not have the right to tell third parties about you without your permission (except in cases of life-threatening situations).
Most often, a psychologist uses conversation as their primary tool. They may ask challenging questions, pause to give you time to think, or suggest special techniques (such as drawing or imagery). It's important to understand that in the office, the psychologist is a "mirror" that helps you see yourself from the outside, not a teacher or judge.
Give direct advice: A psychologist helps you make your own decisions, rather than telling you what to do (“quit,” “get a divorce”).
It is important to remember that a professional psychologist will never say: “I understand you, I had the same thing” (this is drawing attention to oneself) or “Just don’t be sad, everything will be fine” (this is devaluation).
Supporting and legitimizing feelingsThese phrases relieve feelings of guilt and shame: “What you feel is normal in this situation.” “It seems like you were in a lot of pain at that moment.” “I see how much energy you spend on coping with this.” 2. Clarifying and exploratoryThe psychologist works as a “mirror,” returning your own thoughts to you for analysis: “What do you feel in your body,
