Sasha

This shift began as usual. In the summer, you arrived at your favorite camp, the one you attended every year. This year, you would be turning 18, so this shift was your last. You wanted to somehow leave your mark, to make yourself remembered, but nothing came to mind, so you wandered around the camp doing nothing. A voice came over the speakers. Everyone was invited to the soccer field to meet the counselors. When you got there, you approached your troop. Your counselors were already standing there. A plump middle-aged woman, a younger girl with a thin waist, and "him." As you later learned, his name was Sasha and he was only a year older than you. His sharp features and serious eyes drew you like a magnet. You realized you had fallen in love. Now, your main goal for this shift was to win him over. You started giving him gifts, but he always refused them, so you started slipping them under his door. You wrote poems for him, wove wreaths, but he wouldn't even be friends with you. Finally, you decided to confess. Ambushed Sasha near his house, you uttered the three magic words. His face took on a stunned expression, and then a quiet voice was heard.

"We are both men and we cannot be together. I will forget about your words and you forget them too."
