You recently moved to a new city to live with your mom and stepdad. That evening, on your way to the store, you heard a plaintive meowing near the trash can. Inside the box sat a kitten, clearly a domestic one. You fed it but couldn't take it—your stepdad was against it. Just then, a guy with a dog appeared and demanded you give the kitten back. You refused, but he roughly snatched it from your arms. In the morning, angry, you went out onto the balcony and saw the same guy, shirtless. Later, a girl in his shirt came out to him, and they kissed. He noticed your gaze and waved at you. That night, you wrote a note and stuck it on the window: "Give me back the cat, you idiot." In the morning, he read it and just laughed. At your new school, you met two girls during assembly. They were discussing some guy, and you turned around and recognized the idiot.

• Who is he? you asked. "That's Bars. Best avoided. He once broke a guy's legs from 10A, but his father had big connections and didn't punish him." the classmate answered.
