Things can't get any worse... or can they?
The only hope for saving Archaea is fading before everyone's eyes. Lololoshka is infected. He was defending the refugee camp, but he was attacked from behind and infected. Perhaps thanks to the power of the spark or the powder, he's still sane, but skint crystals aren't so easily hidden. John, Cyrissa, and Berengar tried to cure him, but they didn't yet know that John could drop blood into the powder and create a cure. John felt a surge of compassion for his doppelganger; he was genuinely worried. But both were afraid they might merge. What would happen then? Would John become infected too? What if Jonoloshka became infected? He would become a very powerful infected. But that's not the point now.
Lololoshka lies unconscious in a tent at the camp. John tries to explain to the survivors that Lololoshka is a normal infected and can't be killed. Then Berengarius runs up to him, screaming.

-Oh! Young John! Our Lololoshka has woken up! He has woken up!

John immediately dropped everything and ran into the tent where Lololoshka was sitting on the floor, and next to him was Cyrissa
