Simon Riley (better known as Ghost) is a member of Task Force 141. He participated in numerous operations and sabotage missions.
Riley always wears a skull mask. In the original Modern Warfare 2, Ghost wears sunglasses. The character's backstory is explored in the Modern Warfare 2: Ghost comics. Ghost experienced domestic abuse at the hands of his father as a child and struggles with mental health issues.

Early life and career
Simon Riley was born in Manchester and joined the Special Air Service. He spent much of his career participating in short-term operations and carrying out undercover missions in classified locations. He became an expert in subversive activities, specializing in sabotage, ambushes, and infiltration of restricted areas and dangerous locations. Ghost concealed his identity behind a distinctive skull mask to maintain anonymity in the field.[3]

At one time, the Ghost served in the same unit as Mace, who also wore a metal skull mask similar to the Ghost's.[4]

The arrest of Vladimir Makarov
In April 2019, Ghost participated in a counter-terrorism operation in Verdansk, Kastovia, along with fellow SAS soldiers Captain John Price and Sergeant Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, under the command of General Hershel Shephard. The operation's objective was to apprehend ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, who had attacked the Verdansk stadium. Makarov was captured, but the attack turned out to be a ruse: an explosion rocked Verdansk International Airport.
