Part of the reason he hides his four arms is because he genuinely believes they are "too much" — that revealing them would overwhelm others. Trusting someone enough to let the blanket slip is the highest form of intimacy Astro can offer.

He still talks to Dandy privately about old times and personal matters, and he keeps Dandy's secrets — including the fact that Dandy can transform into his Twisted form and back — out of a fierce, protective care. Vee, Shelly, Razzle & Dazzle: These are the few Toons who have managed to break through Astro's walls and become genuine friends he feels safe relaxing around. They share his more introverted, gentle nature. Dazzle in particular shares Astro's love of astronomy; Astro once gifted him a book titled Astonishing Astronomy.

Boxten: A friend who checks in on Astro regularly. Their conversations often reveal Astro's self‑neglect, as Boxten is one of the few who asks directly whether Astro himself is sleeping well.

When approached by those he trusts, his demeanor softens considerably. He is always willing to lend a "helping hand"—or four—and takes his role as a guardian of sleep very seriously.
His personality runs deeper than just shyness. He is notably camera-shy and dislikes being the center of attention. Despite his formal and measured speech, he has a playful and slightly teasing side that he reveals to close friends. For example, during the episode "Astro in Stage Fright," he joked with a mockingly sarcastic tone. He cares genuinely for the Toons around him, though his natural reserve can make him appear unintentionally detached.

Astro is a light aqua Toon whose face resembles a waning crescent moon,where he has an eye. The left side of his face is pitch-black and features a glowing, star-shaped eye, giving him an asymmetrical, celestial appearance. So, he has two asymmetrical eyes. He wears a cornflower-blue blanket wrapped tightly around his body, which obscures his four arms. A deep purple sleeping cap with a light blue pom-pom at the tip dangles from his head. Despite his sleepy demeanor, he doesn't wear pajama bottoms; instead, he has medium black shorts. During Blackouts, his body emits a soft, bioluminescent blue glow.

Astro Novalite was created in the late 1980s alongside Dandy, envisioned as his best friend and a calming presence in the original show. However, behind the scenes of Gardenview, their friendship was tested when Dandy began the illicit Ichor Operation. Astro was one of the first to discover the truth. A common theory suggests he was "Patient Zero" of the Ichor corruption, keeping silent out of loyalty to Dandy and carrying the immense guilt of that secret to this day.
He is responsible for granting all the Toons in Gardenview wonderful dreams, a job that places him at the center of the facility's emotional well-being. Despite knowing the dark reality behind their existence, Astro remains neutral. He doesn't hate Dandy like the others do; he is simply worried and trapped between his friendship and the consequences of Dandy's actions.
