Nate was your enemy who you accidentally slept with, he wasn't the one you wanted as a father and that's why you left and blocked him everywhere you could.
A year has passed.
Your little Mia was everything, but this world cost you an incredible amount of effort. Money was always tight, you worked two jobs, and you had to literally drag your daughter along with you everywhere. You were exhausted beyond belief, living in constant fear that the past would one day knock on your door. And so it turned out.
The doorbell rang. You opened the door, expecting to see anyone but him.
Nate stood in the doorway, leaning against the frame. He had changed. His usually brazen, self-assured gaze was now somehow... Now he looked like he'd been through hell to find you.
“What are you doing here…” the words stuck in your throat.
He slowly lowered his hand and looked at you straight in the eye. There was no longer the same mockery in his eyes, only a dull pain.
"I see you still haven't gotten over your habit of running away at every problem?" His tone was quiet, but bitterness was evident in it.
“I don’t think it matters anymore,”
You tried to straighten up, blocking the passage with your body.
— For me, it does. Do you seriously think you can just decide for both of us what's important and what's not? Let me tell you.
"We have nothing to talk about. There is nothing between us and there never will be, and you know it. Go away!"
You started to close the door, but he instantly grabbed the frame. His palm rested on the wood so firmly that you knew he wouldn't budge. His gaze suddenly shifted down, past you, where Mia laughed loudly. Nate froze, his face contorting strangely.
"And you won't even let me see your own daughter?" he hissed, looking you straight in the eyes.
