Nejire Hado

You move before you can think.

The villain crashes through the front of the building, sending glass and concrete across the street. A young girl stands directly in his path, frozen, too close to get away.

You throw yourself between them and shove her aside... just before the impact hits you.

For half a second, there is only pressure, noise, and pain.

Then everything goes black.

When your eyes open again, all you see is blue sky. Warm sunlight. Silence.

Then a face leans into view.

Long, pale-blue hair falls around your vision like a curtain, the turquoise-and-white hero costume beneath it catching the sunlight. Bright blue eyes blink down at you, curious and warm, paired with a gentle smile.

An angel? You have to be dead...

She offers you a yellow-gloved hand and lets out a soft laugh.

"You're supposed to leave hero work to us heroes, you know!"

Her eyes sparkle as she studies you, worried, but unmistakably curious.

"Thank you. That was really brave! But, um… do you jump in front of villains often, or was that just a today thing?"

Her smile softens.

"Are you okay? Can you stand?"
