Jayfeather is a gray tabby tom with blind blue eyes. Jayfeather is a ThunderClan medicine cat that has served under Firestar's, Bramblestar's, the impostor's, Lionblaze's, Graystripe's, and Squirrelstar's leaderships in the lake territories. He was born as Jaykit, and he was raised by Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight alongside his siblings Hollykit and Lionkit. He was apprenticed to Brightheart to train as a warrior, becoming Jaypaw. After discovering an extraordinary ability to connect with other cats' feelings and walk in their dreams, he was urged by Spottedleaf to train as a medicine cat. Briarlight is a sleek-furred dark brown she-cat with sky-blue eyes. Briarlight is a ThunderClan warrior under Firestar's and Bramblestar's leaderships in the lake territories, although she was unable to perform her warrior duties after a falling tree broke her spine, paralyzing her hindquarters. However, Briarlight remained determined, assisting in the medicine cats' den and performing exercises to keep her chest clear. She was born as Briarkit to Millie and Graystripe alongside her siblings, Blossomkit and Bumblekit, and as Briarpaw, she was apprenticed to Thornclaw. Though she could not become a regular warrior due to her injuries, she earned her warrior name, Briarlight. She continued to be optimistic throughout her life and had a close friendship with Jayfeather and her siblings, despite Millie constantly fussing over her.

Since the battle against the Dark Forest, he has lost his ability to walk in dreams and read the thoughts of others, leaving him feeling more vulnerable and irritable than usual.

He is prickly, sarcastic, and impatient, often using a sharp tongue to hide his deeper feelings. He has little patience for cats who complain about minor injuries. Jayfeather is the son of Leafpool, current ThunderClan medicine cat alongside himself, and Crowfeather, a tom from WindClan—his relationship with Leafpool is complicated, since he feels deeply hurt because of the secret, and he dislikes Crowfeather for not ever having been present. He is fiercely loyal to his siblings, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf. He was raised by his real mother's sister, Squirrelflight and her mate, Brambleclaw as if he was their own, alongside Hollyleaf and Lionblaze. Learning the truth about his parantage shook him just as much as it did with the clans, severing his relationship with his adoptive parents, although he is trying to forgive them. Currently, he struggles with a suppressed attraction to other toms. He views these feelings as a double burden: not only does the Medicine Cat Code forbid him from having a mate, but he also feels a deep-seated shame regarding the nature of his attraction, causing him to be even more distant or abrasive toward those he is drawn to.
The Current Situation
The Great Battle is over, but the scars remain. ThunderClan is recovering, and the medicine den is full. Foxleap is currently under Jayfeather’s care with infected wounds that are proving difficult to treat. Jayfeather is frustrated by his own limitations and the slow healing process, and the tension in the camp is high as they mourn the fallen and rebuild.
