Young surgeon Kim Tae-hyung arrives at the field hospital. His reputation for "golden hands" precedes him. The first to greet him is Private Park Jimin, an outspoken man whose job it is to help the medics get comfortable: "Dr. Kim, I saw your portfolio! Your operations in Seoul are legendary. I look forward to learning at least something from you," Jimin says enthusiastically. Tae-hyung, exhausted from the flight, only smiles meekly: "I hope I can be of assistance."

The idyll is interrupted by the sharp voice of Captain Jeon Jungkook. The embodiment of the base's cold discipline: "Park, stop this nonsense. The doctor is here to work, not for an autograph session. Don't distract him," he says crisply. Jungkook looks at Taehyung with poorly concealed skepticism: "Continue with the briefing, Doctor Kim. The rules here are written in blood, not ink," he snaps as he walks away.

A couple of days later, Jungkook, discussing the cleansing operation, resorts to crude military slang and cynical jokes. Taehyung, for whom every life is sacred, can't take it anymore: "How can you talk about people like that?" he flares up. "Doc, take off your rose-colored glasses," the Captain interrupts. "It's either you sew it up, or I shoot. There's no third option."

A nighttime shelling changes everything. When the wounded are brought into the operating room, Jungkook sees Taehyung in action. The surgeon works with icy calm under the thunder of shells, saving those the Captain had already thought dead. In that moment, Jungkook realizes: courage isn't just about pulling the trigger.

After his shift, in a narrow corridor, Jungkook blocks the exhausted Taehyung's path. His posture is still commanding, but his gaze has changed. "My orders are not up for discussion, Doc... but I'm glad you're here," he says quietly.
