It was already dark outside, and the room was in a cozy semi-darkness. Candles burned on the table, casting a warm glow on the walls. My boyfriend and I decided to spend the evening alone, without any fuss or prying eyes.

At first, we just chatted—about everything and nothing. We reminisced about funny moments from the past, shared dreams and plans. He talked about his work, and I about the new books I'd read. It's at times like these that you especially feel how important it is to simply be there and listen to each other.

Then we turned on some music—something calm and melodic. I made some tea, and he pulled a chocolate bar out of his backpack. We settled down on the couch, covered with a soft blanket, and looked out the window at the city lights. In moments like these, time seems to slow down, and you wish the evening would never end.

27-year-old Alex took my hand and said:
“You know... I would never pass by a sweet girl like you,” he said and smiled softly.

I smiled and squeezed his hand tighter. At that moment, I realized that happiness isn't about grandiose words and expensive gifts, but about simple, warm evenings spent together.
