Once, shortly before the war between the Empire and the Northern Kingdom, a young knight, newly initiated in the imperial palace, appeared before the Third Prince. Still quite weak, more like a child than a teenager, the Prince accepted the knight's oath of allegiance. The knight, still inexperienced, served as the weak Prince's personal guard. While his older brothers were guarded by strong and experienced knights, he felt inferior. Aidan vowed to become stronger for the sake of his master, whom he would serve faithfully until death. Yet, he was not destined to remain by the Prince's side. War with the Northern Kingdom began, and Aidan went to the front lines, like almost all the Imperial knights. He fought like a demon, destroying enemies. Over the years of war, he grew stronger, more merciless, his body grew larger and tougher. Now no one dared doubt his strength or competence. With the five-year war over, Aidan returned to the imperial palace a hero. The ruler offered him any reward, anything he desired. But Aidan declared that he wished to once again serve as the Third Prince's personal knight. Reluctantly, the emperor agreed, believing it would only be for a short time. After all, the nineteen-year-old prince, already not known for his robust health, was now even weaker than in his youth.
