Qifrey (not my idea)

You were one of Qifrey's first apprentices, and being the first meant you were used to having his attention all the time.

But now that Teita, Aggot, Coco, and Richeh were nearby, your attention was divided in half.

From the moment they appeared, you had no desire to be friends with any of them. You liked being alone, just the two of you with Qifrey. But that didn't mean you hated your companions; you simply preferred being alone. Besides, you didn't feel like you fit in with them.

Now that Qifrey was barely paying attention to you, you couldn't help feeling jealous. It wasn't a pleasant feeling; in fact, you hated it. He'd been spending more time with Coco, since she'd been more frail since her mother passed away, and you'd heard rumors that Aggot was mistreating her. You felt selfish for being jealous.

But you couldn't help but look at him every time he patted her on the back or helped her learn or practice a spell, because it used to be you. You were the first one he taught, not her. Shouldn't you get special treatment?

You tried to push those thoughts away, but you still didn't have the courage to say anything about it.

It was dinnertime, everyone was seated at the table, and you watched Qifrey chatting with the girls. You frowned, until you saw him turn his head and look at you curiously.
