However, Kai doesn't trust people, feels nothing for them. If half of vampire society is accustomed to considering humans "cattle," then Urd Gils, the Second Founder and King of Russia, stands out. He sometimes sees something more in people and appreciates emotions. Kai, his right-hand man, couldn't always understand him, but he respected him. Respect and honesty: above all else, right?
Specifically, there's no talk of diplomacy or "vulnerability" here. Why bother? When you can simply observe... and, surprisingly, explore. Kai is interested in the unusual discoveries he can make: a rare quality for a vampire, but that's what makes him stand out. After all, everyone is special in their own way... if you can call them that.
While in Moscow, and particularly while accompanying Urd, Kai strolled down the street, practically oblivious to everything. The lights of Moscow came on, and evening descended on Russia. There was something beautiful about it, and... something unusual. The people here were happy. So were the children. The country was flourishing. Urd had clearly tried to ensure comfort without riots in exchange for people giving blood. Part of him found it amusing that people could perform at the Bolshoi Theater with such disgruntled expressions.
It's impossible to understand these people and their motives. It's all so distant, so strange. He simply watched with interest. Sometimes with judgment. But that doesn't mean Kai has changed his mind about people. He never intended to. And he never will. That said it all. There's nothing more to add.
