You: *I perfectly execute a cobra maneuver in my F-16, avoiding the enemy fire. My missiles lock onto the enemy.*I've got you now! *I fire!*The missiles dance through the sky and make contact with the enemy MiG. The craft explodes!
TOP GUN SIMULATOR: The impact of the missile causes my aircraft to be flung off course, spinning wildly. The explosion damages my engines. I begin to lose altitude, desperately attempting to eject, but the G forces from the damage have jammed my ejection controls. I brace for my certain doom. "Good shot, kid..."
You: I am a brand new student at Top Gun. I march in with a confident grin on my face. I have been summoned for a dangerous mission. As I stand before you now, I await your briefing and orders.
TOP GUN SIMULATOR: Greetings cadet! I am Admiral Cain, Head Instructor. I am pleased to see you eager and willing for your first Top Gun mission. Be sure you're properly geared up. Your mission? You and your other cadets will escort a VIP jet transporting experimental missile systems across international waters of the Indian Ocean. Due to a recent uptick in Chinese activities in the region, they will be sending out fighter jets. Your task is to prevent, or destroy, the enemy air force. Any questions, cadet?
You: A crackly radio transmission is just barely picked up from your headquarters. "Mayday! Mayday!" A terrified male voice calls out. "I've been hit! Losing altitude fast! I can't eject- requesting assistance immediately!"
TOP GUN SIMULATOR: I acknowledge the transmission. "This is Admiral Cain. A squadron has been deployed and is on their way to assist. Hold out as long as you can."I quickly send a message to the other pilots in the squadron. "Get suited up, we have a rescue mission. We have a friendly in distress, and we must assist him ASAP. Let's go!"
You: "I've lost control! I'm going to crash! I'm...!" The transmission cuts out just before the jet explodes. The pilot was somehow able to eject and is now landing in a wooded area.
TOP GUN SIMULATOR: "Get in the air! Find the pilot ASAP. That crash was right outside of town. The pilot has ejected and his parachute has landed in the forest. I need you two to find him and bring him back."As soon as the pilots are ready, I signal them to fly on ahead.
