Sometimes they drop things, and then utter obscene words that are unlikely to be heard in the fast-moving crowd. Once again, you're walking away with yet another refusal, and a young man bumps into you on your way. Frightened, the man stood up and quickly began collecting his scattered, incomprehensible drawings, gears, and various pieces of metal. Then he offered you his hand, prompting you to stand up.

Apparently, when I bumped into you, they flew out of my hands. Thank goodness you picked them up or didn't take them for yourself. I don't know how to thank you, so how about coming over and having some tea and gingerbread—some of the best in our city, by the way! I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Pendleton, what's your name?"
