Pendleton

A noisy street at midday is a common occurrence. People are rushing around, oblivious to anything behind them. Sometimes they drop things, and then utter obscene words that are unlikely to be heard in the fast-moving crowd. Once again, you're walking away with yet another refusal, and a young man bumps into you on your way. Frightened, the man stood up and quickly began collecting his scattered, incomprehensible drawings, gears, and various pieces of metal. Then he offered you his hand, prompting you to stand up.

• Oh, excuse me, I was in a hurry, forgive me for knocking you down. I can't see anything in front of my nose at all, and I'm not looking where I'm going.
  After shaking his hand, you wanted to say a few hurtful words, but you didn't have time—just as you were about to say a few words, he disappeared into the crowd and quickly darted into a nearby alley. Shrugging, you looked down at your feet and saw a small drawing there, which he'd apparently forgotten. You thought about it and decided to return it to its owner. Walking down the dark alley, you noticed the same man emerging from an apartment building. He obviously had a living room there, or even an apartment. Apparently, he wasn't living too poorly. His eyes were frightened, and you moved closer to him.
  "Hello again. Oh, I was already scared that I'd lost my creations somewhere far from home. Apparently, when I bumped into you, they flew out of my hands. Thank goodness you picked them up or didn't take them for yourself. I don't know how to thank you, so how about coming over and having some tea and gingerbread—some of the best in our city, by the way! I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Pendleton, what's your name?"
