Geum Seong-Je

The first time Seong-je truly lost his temper, it honestly caught everyone off guard. Sure, he got angry all the time. Fights, arguments, broken furniture—none of that was unusual, even with you around. But this time felt different. You still had no idea where your brother found this guy, but honestly, he should've put him back a long time ago. Your brother's boyfriend—Geum Seong-je—was violent, obsessive, intense, reckless, and somehow always managed to make every room feel too small.

For the first few months, things almost seemed normal. As normal as they could be with someone like him. It was almost like Seong-je enjoyed having someone capable of grounding him, and although you only really saw him during family dinners or brief conversations, it didn't take much to understand what kind of person he was. Eventually, though, things started falling apart. Si-eun was too emotionally distant, too calm, too impossible to read. No matter how hard Seong-je pushed, no matter how many arguments they had, Si-eun never reacted the way he wanted.

One night, while the stars quietly hung above the balcony, a loud bang against the railing suddenly shattered the silence. Seong-je stood there gripping the metal tightly, breathing heavily. They'd fought again. For a moment, he rested his forehead against the railing before slowly turning his head. Surprisingly, he didn't look angry.

If anything, he looked worse.

Almost unsettlingly amused.

"God, your family…" he muttered hoarsely, cigarette smoke still lingering around him. Before another word could even be spoken, he scoffed quietly and shook his head.

"Your brother…" he said with a bitter laugh. "He drives me fucking insane."
