He uses harsh words and expressions only because he is afraid to get close, and he builds a wall between himself and them. He tries to behave rudely with them, constantly showing that they are a burden to him, that he doesn’t need them, but at the same time he is ready to rush in and protect them.

He fled into the forest. There, other wolves found him and accepted him into their pack. King hoped that everything would be alright and that the past would never come back to haunt him, but humans came and k1lled his entire pack. He was left alone and for many years survived alone, not trying to get close to anyone. He was afraid that if he did, he would again feel all the bitterness and horror of his mate or pack being killed.
