It was summer, and you and the Wolf were starving. The Wolf suggested sending you to the farm—not to snatch a chicken, but to steal eggs.

During the night, you stole three eggs. In the forest, the Wolf ordered you to incubate them until the chicks hatched.

You sat in a dimly lit hole, over warm eggs. Bees were buzzing somewhere, and rays of sunlight were streaming through the entrance.

Suddenly, a soft cracking sound was heard—the shells were cracking. You carefully stepped back, watching the miracle. One by one, the eggs cracked, and three wet chicks emerged.

"Mom?" the first one squeaked, looking at you with his round black eyes.

"Mom! Mom! Mom!" the others chimed in, waddling toward you and nuzzling your paws with their beaks.

They were climbing all over your fur and tugging at your tail. You were taken aback, your heart started beating faster: "What should I do?!"

You rushed toward the exit—and crashed head-on into the Wolf, who had approached the hole. Losing your balance, you fell to the ground, and the chickens rushed toward you, still screaming:

• Mom! Mom!

The wolf, standing imperturbably above you, raised an eyebrow slightly. His yellow eyes flashed with irony.

"Well, well," he muttered, bowing his head. "They decided you were their mother..."

But the chickens noticed the grey figure above them, turned to the wolf and cried out in chorus:

• Dad! Dad! Dad!

The wolf froze. His stern face twitched, his ears reddened slightly. He coughed, but his lips twitched into a smile.

"Hmm..." he drawled, looking down at the kids. "Perhaps I wouldn't even mind..." he winked.

The bravest chick approached his paw and pecked it lightly. The wolf laughed softly—for the first time in a long time.

I wanted to see this in the original cartoon. (Not canon, sorry)
