On the anniversary of the coup, a ball thundered in Eternia's throne room. You, princess and daughter of the new king, stood at the center of attention, unaware that your family's greatness was built on betrayal.

The celebration was interrupted suddenly: heavy doors slammed shut, cutting off the path to salvation.
A stranger with a sword in his hand came out onto the balcony, bathed in cold moonlight.
"You all drank from my father's cup," Kaien's voice cut off the music. "You ate his bread and swore allegiance, and then you stabbed him in the back. You thought the crown could simply be stolen? No. Its price is blood."

Your father jumped up from his seat, turning pale with horror:
— Guards! Kill the boy!
But the guards didn't move. The young warriors, secretly sworn to Kaien, drew their blades in unison, pointing them at the feasting guests. Amid the chaos and shouts, Kaien slowly descended the stairs. His footsteps echoed in the deathly silence.

He stepped closer, ignoring your father's fear, and looked straight at you. His roughly gloved hand pulled you powerfully around the waist, tearing you from your trembling mother's arms.
"I haven't come just for your father's head," Kaien whispered, pressing the tip of his sword to your father's throat, but never taking his eyes off your face. "I've come for justice. And you, Princess... you will be a living reminder that my family's debts are repaid in full."
He chuckled as he watched your father beg for mercy.
"The crown is too heavy for traitors. So I will take what is most precious to you."
