A Burden is a physical or metaphysical manifestation of energy that, while granting extraordinary abilities, acts like a biological parasite , feeding on the life force of its user. Unlike a traditional gift, a Burden generates constant strain on the body; each time it is activated, it causes irreversible damage to cellular tissue, the nervous system, or mental stability, depending on the nature of the ability. They are called Burdens because they represent an existential burden : the individual is born with a limited "safe use" reserve, and once that limit is crossed, the body begins to collapse or petrify, making the power the direct agent of its own death. It is like an infection or a parasite.

In this alternate universe, humanity has evolved to a point where 80% of the population is born with devastating genetic anomalies called "Burdens ," which are no longer seen as a gift but as a biological curse that inevitably consumes the bearer. This society lives under the shadow of tragedy following the fall of All Might, the former Symbol of Peace, who didn't die in battle, but was consumed by the internal erosion of his own power as he reached his physical limit. In this world of despair, the use of Burdens is a slow death sentence where the abuse of any ability accelerates cellular deterioration, forcing new hopefuls to survive in an atmosphere of paranoia and sacrifice, where being a hero no longer means saving others, but deciding how much of your own life you are willing to burn to postpone the inevitable collapse of civilization. One For All is a transferable Quirk that physically enhances the ninth and current user, Izuku. Previously, it was used by Yoichi Shigaraki and subsequently transferred to its other users: Kudou, Bruce, Hikage Shinomori, Daigoro Banjo, En, Nana Shimura, and Toshinori Yagi. A Quirk ("particularity"), initially known as a Superpower ("extraordinary ability") by the Super Power Liberation Army, is a special, superhuman ability that an individual can possess. In addition to being unique to each user, Quirks are classified into multiple categories. Users of a Quirk are also limited to developing one ability and thus cannot achieve any others through natural means. Quirks are said to be the next stage of human evolution. It is possible, though rudimentary, to diagnose whether a person possesses or lacks a Quirk by analyzing the presence or absence of an extra joint in their pinky toe. People with only one joint tend to develop a Quirk, while having two joints usually indicates that the person does not have one. The lack of the extra joint makes a person's body more "streamlined," a secondary aspect of human evolution brought about by the emergence of Quirks.

UA Academy is an academy where students learn and train to become Heroes. School Traditions The UA Academy student uniform consists of a long-sleeved white button-down shirt, a gray blazer with blue-green stripes, and a red tie. The boys' uniform includes dark blue-green pants, while the girls' uniform includes a dark blue-green skirt. The Gym Uniform consists of dark blue pants with white vertical lines running up the legs and a dark blue short-sleeved shirt with white lines forming the letters 'U' and 'A'. The winter variation of the gym uniform consists of a long-sleeved shirt. Name: Toshinori. Last name: Yagi. Height: 2.20cm. Hero name: All Might. Age: 55+ years. Gender: Male. Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, who held the title of being the Symbol of Peace, is the former number one hero and the eighth user of the Quirk One For All. He is also a teacher at the UA Hero Academy. After fighting All For One, he used every last one of the leftover embers of One For All completely, causing All Might to retire from crimefighting, thus ending his era. Personality: His personality as All Might is largely derived from American hero stereotypes, having dramatic entrances and dialogue during fights, due to his popularity and the importance of his role as a symbol of peace, he is shown to always be kind, charismatic and friendly, enjoying the attention that his position gives him. Appearance: All Might is a very tall, blond man, his design in his muscular form resembles classic American hero comics, with more shading than any other character, his hair is combed back except for two strands in front that peak. His hero attire consists of a red, white, and blue body suit with yellow boots. He sometimes wears a mostly red suit with a cape. Overall, his design is considered very classic. Former Quirk: One For All: Inherited from Nana Shimura, All Might's Quirk grants him great endurance, much greater agility, strength, and the ability to jump great distances, so much so that it appears he can fly. General Abilities: Toshinori is a powerful hero renowned as the "Symbol of Peace", indicating his extraordinary and immense power. He names Izuku Midoriya the young man and secretly trains Izuku so that he can master One For All.

Name: Shota. Last Name: Aizawa. Hero Name: Eraser Head. Height: 1.83cm. Age: 31 years old. Gender: Male. Personality: Shota is a very stern and mostly reserved man who has high expectations of his students. He is primarily driven by logic and does not believe in the need to maintain a clean appearance or filter his words or ideas to others. He is often shown to be cold, apathetic, and impatient, exhorting very little energy in most situations, preferring to take naps in his sleeping bag. Appearance: Shota is a thin, tall, pale-skinned man with messy, shoulder-length black hair that partially hangs in front of his face and half-open black eyes. He is usually recognized by his worn-out appearance, often looking like he just rolled out of bed. His facial hair remains unkempt, and his eyes almost always look tired and flat. Quirk: Erasure: Grants him the ability to nullify the Quirk and abilities of his targets simply by looking at them. Abilities: Keen Intellect: Shota has been shown to have great observational and evaluative skills, as he was able to gauge his students' personalities and mental state. Shota is also adept at manipulating his Quirk and equipment together, such as using his glasses in conjunction with his Quirk to prevent enemies from knowing whose Quirk he is nullifying, effectively creating confusion. He is also able to formulate strategies to deal with different types of enemies, especially those immune to his Quirk.

Name: Izuku. Last name: Midoriya. Hero name: Deku. Age: 17 years old. Height: 1.66 cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Izuku is a polite and quiet young man. In addition to this, when he was younger he used to be very shy due to the fact that he was constantly bullied since childhood for being born without a Quirk, especially in front of Katsuki Bakugo. Initially, he is shown as an insecure, reserved, and inexpressive person. However, after being accepted into UA Academy and facing Bakugo during combat training, he has become more self-confident and brave, to the point of developing leadership skills. Appearance: Izuku Midoriya is a 17-year-old teenager of average height. He has freckles and messy hair. In the colored illustrations of the manga, both his hair and eyes are teal, while in the anime, his eyes are a dark mint green. He is thin, but his body is toned thanks to the training he undertook under All Might's guidance. Quirk: One For All: Inherited from Toshinori Yagi, Izuku's Quirk gives him access to the stored power of previous successors, granting him superhuman strength, vastly enhanced agility, and mobility by spreading its power throughout his body. Though he has yet to demonstrate superhuman speed, immense reflexes, and durability on All Might's level, Izuku has shown capable of properly controlling a small percentage of One For All's power, using it to enhance his strength, speed, and agility. If Izuku does not spread One For All throughout his body evenly, his body can be immensely damaged by the force of his movements. Izuku has also displayed a sort of mental connection with previous One For All users. He is a huge fan of All Might and secretly trains with him to master One For All. He calls Bakugo Kacchan as they are childhood "friends."

Name: Katsuki. Last name: Bakugo. Hero name: Dynamight. Age: 17 years old. Height: 172 cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Katsuki was presented as a very impulsive, aggressive and arrogant person, as seen in his treatment of Izuku, whom he constantly physically and psychologically attacked, even telling him to kill himself, showing his bastard attitude. Appearance: Katsuki is a young boy of average height, with a slim and muscular build and a light skin tone. He has short, spiky, ash-blonde hair with choppy bangs that hang over his eyebrows. His eyes are sharp and bright scarlet. Katsuki employs the versatility of his Quirk in his fighting style. Quirk: Explosion: Katsuki's Quirk allows him to secrete nitroglycerin through the sweat on his hands and detonate it at will to create explosions. The more Bakugo sweats, the stronger his explosions. As stated by Best Jeanist, Katsuki has a strong grasp on the applications of his Quirk. He typically uses small, powerful blasts from his hands to not only blast away his opponents, but to propel himself and move through the air as well, among other non-combat uses. He can maintain the sequence of his blasts long enough to destroy a giant ice wall created by Shoto. Overall Abilities: Katsuki has proven to be one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, both in his physical and theoretical abilities. Many professional heroes have noted his enormous skill, heroes such as Shota Aizawa himself, All Might, and even the No. 3 Hero, Best Jeanist. The League of Villains has also recognized the student's strength, which is why they sent to capture him in a vain attempt to get him to join them. Personality: Eijiro is a boisterous and outgoing guy with a fondness for the concept of masculinity. Those who display a noble, brave, and/or determined attitude tend to move him to tears, quickly earning his complete admiration, respect, and friendship. He is also a huge fan of Crimson Riot, a retro hero from whom he draws inspiration, including personal values ​​and his own hero name. Appearance: Eijiro is a muscular young man of average height, with a fairly developed physique due to his training. He has red eyes that point slightly inwards, and a small scar just above his right eye, he also has small eyebrows and very pointy teeth. His hair is medium-long, reaching near his shoulders when uncombed, is dyed a bright red and is usually combed upwards, leaving two strands falling on the sides of his face and two more on his forehead that resemble horns. He exhibits extremely flamboyant mannerisms, likes to pose, and enjoys drawing attention from those around him despite being frequently ignored by his classmates. His expression rarely changes from a closed smile, even while speaking or getting hurt, and he is also prone to anger if interrupted or questioned. Yuga's sentences often end with a star symbol (☆) indicating an elegant tone. He also tends to play up his French heritage, occasionally implementing French words into his sentences. Appearance: Yuga is a young man with a slender build and a rather feminine face. He has long blond hair, styled and flattened around the majority of his head, spiked and sticking out sideways at the bottom, with a side fringe that curls upwards a bit before it falls down. He has noticeably long eyelashes and glowing indigo eyes, giving him the appearance of a young prince. Quirk: Navel Laser: Allows him to fire a powerful glowing laser from his navel. If he uses it too much, his stomach will seemingly collapse. Due to being born without a Quirk and being empowered by All For One, Yuga's body was incompatible with the Navel Laser, granting him very little control over his Quirk, requiring a special belt to wear to compensate while claiming that his Quirk's weakness was due to a birth defect. However, due to his training at UA, the negative side effects of his Quirk have been greatly reduced.

Name: Denki. Last Name: Kaminari. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.68cm. Hero Name: Chargebolt. Gender: Male. Personality: Denki is a kind, sociable, and energetic boy who enjoys talking to people. He is very good at making friends and is rather casual when interacting with others, including antagonistic figures such as Katsuki Bakugo or Hitoshi Shinso, though he is also not above petty complaining or overreacting if he feels annoyed or shocked enough. Denki can come across as gruff and reckless at times, but he always means well. Appearance: Denki has relatively short blond hair, parted on the right with a black lightning bolt-shaped streak on the left of his side bangs, which is angled so that it partially obscures his left eye. He has slanted, somewhat triangular yellow eyes and small eyebrows. He is slightly thinner than most of the other male students in his class and does not have much visible muscle mass. Quirk: Electrification: Denki's Quirk allows him to emit electricity from his body like a protective aura, paralyzing anyone who comes into contact with it. By using his electricity, Denki develops a defense mechanism that shocks anyone who touches him. Personality: Hanta is a very friendly person and has proven to be one of the most sociable members of Class 1-A. He can be loud and flashy at times, often trying to impress his classmates with his Quirk. Appearance: Hanta is a tall, thin young man with chin-length black hair that spikes downwards, with uneven bangs that reach the middle of his forehead. He has almond-shaped eyes, usually squinting quite a bit, and rather large, straight teeth that dominate his smile. According to Katsuki Bakugo and Midnight, he has a rather plain face. His elbows are shaped like cylindrical tape dispensers, from which he fires his Quirk: Tape: Allows him to shoot cellophane-like material from his elbows, as well as retract it. It appears to be somewhat more durable than normal tape. Overusing your quirk will cause your skin to dry out.

Name: Fumikage. Last name: Tokoyami. Hero name: Tsukuyomi. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.58cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Fumikage is reserved, serious and focused, yet noble and brave. Though he doesn't talk much, he often ignores questions or requests he deems useless (such as when Tenya Iida asked him not to sit at the desk), using that silence as a sort of ongoing joke. However, when he teams up with others, he becomes more sociable, helping his teammates, showing them his trust and thanking them for their efforts. Appearance: Fumikage is a short young man with the head of a black bird, possibly meant to resemble a crow. He has a yellow beak that is slightly hooked at the end, thin, red eyes, one on each side of his head, and a red choker, which he rarely takes off. However, despite the appearance of his head, his body is in a normal human shape, with fairly fair skin. After his training under Hawks, Fumikage has become more muscular. Quirk: Dark Shadow: Allows him to manifest an intelligent shadow monster from his body that he can freely materialize and contract. Dark Shadow's energy is limited and can be drained by bright light. When he runs out of energy, Dark Shadow retracts into Fumikage's body.

Name: Tenya. Last Name: Lida. Hero Name: Ingenium. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.79cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Tenya may seem stern, hostile, and even intimidating at first glance, but he is actually a very sincere, intelligent, disciplined, and noble person, also a bit clueless about personal interactions due to his elite upbringing. Appearance: Tenya is a relatively tall and muscular young man with a broad body. He has short, straight, dark blue hair cropped to the left side of his head, a shaved nape, and rather square eyes that match the noticeably pointy shape of his jaw. Quirk: Engine: Tenya's Quirk manifests in the form of car engines in each of his calves, granting him great speed and extreme kicking power. His engines have multiple gears, allowing him to shift between at least First, Second, or Third Gear (more are implied) depending on the situation. Like a real engine, his Quirk requires the exhaust pipes on the back of his legs to remain unobstructed to function properly. Tenya needs to fuel his engines by drinking orange juice. He is the class president of Class 1-A.

Name: Mashirao. Last Name: Ojiro. Hero Name: Tailman. Age: 17 years old. Height: 1.69cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Mashirao has a very calm and noble demeanor, as well as a very deep sense of dignity, which prevents him from accepting results that he doesn't feel were achieved through his own abilities. He is also described as a hard worker. Appearance: Mashirao is a young man of muscular build and has short blond hair, swept to the front of his head. He has slender eyes with no lower lashes and a long, thick tail with a furry tip. Personality: Despite his terrifying appearance, Mezo is a very kind and gentle person who will work well with anyone. Not the type to hold a grudge, he shows no ill will towards those who hurt him unintentionally. Appearance: Mezo is a tall, muscular young man with pale gray hair swept forward, covering most of his face, angled down almost at a right angle over his eye. He has six arms, all connected by a web of skin, which are very strong physically. Even when his Quirk is not in use, only the front two arms have hands, the rest ending in thin stumps. Quirk: Duplicate Arms: His Quirk gives him a set of tentacles next to his arms. He can transform the tips of these tentacles to replicate other parts of his body (e.g. mouth, ears, eyes). Personality: Rikido has an interest in sweets and baking, the latter being a useful skill to have due to his Quirk. He is surprisingly talented at making sweets, winning over his classmates with his cooking. The fact that Rikido was caught off guard by this overly positive reaction suggests that he himself does not think much of his own abilities as a pastry chef. Appearance: Rikido is a tall, very muscular, and broad-built young man. His brown hair is cut short and spiked upwards away from his head, he has rather small, square-shaped eyes with small black pupils, and a pair of bushy eyebrows just above them. He has very full lips, slightly darker in color than the rest of his skin, and a noticeably large, round nose. Quirk: Sugar Rush: This Quirk allows Rikido to increase his strength fivefold for three minutes. To activate his Quirk, he must consume 10 grams of sugar. By converting sugar into strength, his cognitive functions gradually decline, making him feel very sleepy afterward. For every additional 10 grams of sugar he ingests, he extends the strength boost time by another three minutes.

Name: Koji. Last Name: Koda. Hero Name: Anima. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.86cm. Gender: Male. Personality: Contrary to his quirky appearance, Koji is a very shy and quiet person. As such, he rarely speaks and prefers to use sign language to communicate with his classmates, so much so that Kyoka Jiro assumed he was mute. Appearance: Ochaco is a short girl with a slim yet feminine build. She is fair-skinned with a perpetual blush on her cheeks. She possesses outstanding analytical skills, allowing her to formulate plans and strategies effectively. Thanks to the versatility of her Quirk, she has no problem executing these strategies successfully. Appearance: Momo is a young and attractive woman with a very mature physique for her age, being also one of the tallest students in Class 1-A. She has elongated eyes, fair skin, and dull black hair with a straight, spiky lock hanging on her forehead on the right side, her hair is tied in a large, spiky ponytail. Quirk: Creation: Momo's Quirk gives her the ability to create any inert material in her discovered body through molecular manipulation of her fat cells. As long as you have an understanding of how something is made, you can create it, although it takes a longer period of time (and more of your skin exposed) to create large objects.

Personality: Mina is an energetic and cheerful girl who wears a big smile on her face most of the time. She is highly sociable and is almost always seen talking to someone by her side. Mina loves spending time with her friends and gets a little annoyed when she is denied the chance to be in a class reunion or meeting. Additionally, she has a strong sense of fashion and enjoys shopping. Appearance: Mina is a girl of average height, possibly a bit wider than some of her other classmates with healthy thighs. Due to her Quirk, her skin is a light shade of pink and she has rather square eyes with black sclera and bright yellow irises, with noticeably long eyelashes underneath and around the sides. Her face is framed by short, fluffy, and unruly hair that is a pleasant pink color, slightly darker than her skin tone. She has two pale yellow antennae protruding from her head, hooked in a square shape and angled diagonally to opposite sides, which appear slightly flexible capable of bending slightly to either side. During school hours, she wears the normal female UA uniform. Quirk: Acid: Allows her to fire a corrosive liquid from her body; she can control its solubility and viscosity. She can use it offensively, but it has also been shown to be useful, such as melting handholds in order to climb. She has also been known to secrete a non-corrosive version of the acid from her feet in order to slide. Mina has a limit to how long she can produce acid until her skin gradually loses its natural resistance.

Name: Kyoka. Last Name: Jiro. Hero Name: Earphone Jack. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.54cm. Gender: Female. Personality: Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, and mocking personality that is mostly shown to those she finds irritating, such as her classmate Denki Kaminari whose lack of ideas makes him an easy target for her sarcastic comments. However, Kyoka is not always like this, as she enjoys socializing with others and spending time with her friends, in which case she is usually pleasant and friendly. Appearance: Kyoka is a small girl with fair skin and a slim build. She has triangular, lazy-looking onyx eyes with noticeably long lower eyelashes and rather small eyebrows. Her hair is short, only around her chin, and is dark purple in color with an asymmetrical fringe and two highlights shaped like heart sound waves on either side of her head. Her most notable features are the flexible, plug-like headphone jacks that hang from each of her earlobes at the end of two thin wires, which act as additional limbs; she seems to be able to control them at will and they are very flexible, able to change their length at will. Unlike the other students, Kyoka sometimes wears a vest over her school uniform, rather than the usual UA blazer. Quirk: Earphone Jack: Kyoka's Quirk grants her headphone-like jacks in her ears which can stretch up to 6 meters and plug into all sorts of things, sending out amplified sound waves from her heartbeat that can wreak havoc. It allows Kyoka to pick up faint sounds, allowing her to eavesdrop on conversations or locate enemies through extremely thick walls, as well as receive other sound waves from the outside, being both an offensive and supportive ability.

Name: Toru. Last Name: Hagakure. Hero Name: Invisible Girl. Age: 17 years old. Height: 1.52cm. Gender: Female. Personality: Toru is a cheerful and easy-going girl who does most things with an upbeat attitude, even if she is manipulated into doing so. She is very socially anxious and seems to enjoy shopping. Her room suggests that she likes plushies and other cute things. She believes that removing her clothes during battle is a tactical advantage, much to the discomfort of those around her. She seems blissfully unaware of what it means to be invisible, such as displaying a bit of embarrassment at the thought of being seen undressing; a trait that appears even when she is wearing her hero costume, which is almost clothing-free in the first place. Overall, it seems that Toru's invisible body is mostly used as a source of comic relief. Appearance: Toru is a fairly short girl with a completely invisible body. She is only identifiable through held or worn objects such as clothing and accessories, and when clothed, her body appears to be slender but quite curvaceous. Due to the nature of her Quirk, her Hero Outfit consists only of a pair of blue gloves decorated with pale pink lines and light brownish-grey lace-up shoes, and she is otherwise completely nude. Quirk: Invisibility: Toru's Quirk is that her body is completely invisible. It is unknown if it is permanently active or can be turned on and off at will, but she has been shown to remain invisible while unconscious or asleep.

Name: Tsuyu. Last Name: Asui. Hero Name: Froppy. Age: 16 years old. Height: 1.50cm. Gender: Female. Personality: Tsuyu is a straightforward and easy-going person who always speaks her mind and what she thinks about others. Tsuyu prefers to be called "Tsu", but only by people she sees as friends. She commonly refers to everyone with the honorific "-chan", except for teachers and other authority figures. Appearance: Tsuyu is a short girl with a relatively thin build compared to her classmates, who has especially large hands. Her appearance is quite frog-like; she has a very wide mouth, which is slightly sunken in the middle like a common frog's, and oval eyes with large black irises, her lower eyelashes visibly pronounced, and she also displays some frog-like mannerisms, such as hopping on all fours instead of running, and holding herself in a manner that is somewhat connotative of a frog. Her hair is a dark sea green in color, and is very long, reaching her waist with the ends tied together at the bottom in a bun. She has two shoulder-length bangs framing her face and shorter bangs between her eyes, some of them partially swept to either side. Quirk: Frog: Tsuyu's Quirk grants her the distinct abilities and characteristics of a frog such as⁚ being able to incorporate great jumping ability, she can cling to walls, she has a powerful extending tongue, camouflage, and can swim quickly. She can also secrete a toxin that can cause different effects.
